THERAPUETIC CLASS: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASS: COX-2 selective inhibitor
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
Etoricoxib is contraindicated in pregnancy. Also, the use of this medication in lactation is not recommended.
STORAGE AND HANDLING
Keep the medication stored at normal room temperature and out of reach of children and pets. Dispose unused medications and expired medications properly to avoid adverse effects.
INDICATIONS
- Symptomatic relief of osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA) & ankylosing spondylitis
- Pain and signs of inflammation associated with acute gouty arthritis
- Short-term treatment of moderate pain associated with dental surgery
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- Known hypersensitivity to Etoricoxib or any other components of the formulation
- Active peptic ulceration or active gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Patients with NSAID-induced respiratory disease
- Severe hepatic dysfunction
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Route of Administration: Oral
Children <16 years: Not applicable for this product
Adults and Elderly: The dose must be as directed by the physician.
It is to be used for shortest duration possible and the lowest effective daily dose should be used. It is best administered after meal.
